Here are some multimedia maps you may be able to use with your curriculum:Storytelling with Maps GeoGuessr: You may remember using GeoGuessr at the October First Friday PD this year. It's easy to customize your own GeoGuessr based on your curriculum--this works particularly well for foreign language, social studies, art, earth science, and biology. Here are two you can have a look at. Have your classes or Powerblock test their Asheville and USA knowledge! Please let us know if you are interested in customizing your own GeoGuessr.
Famous Geography Majors Michael Jordan (which makes for interesting math) Prince William of the United Kingdom Kurt Angle (WWE star) Mother Teresa taught Geography
"The study of geography is about more than just memorizing places on a map. It's about understanding the complexity of our world, appreciating the diversity of cultures that exists across continents. And in the end, it's about using all that knowledge to help bridge divides and bring people together." -- President Barack Obama

Great article from Slate on the vital need for structure and human interaction to use technology effectively. A quote of note:
"Hear Me is now less about the technology and more about the guidance and structure—the “scaffolding,” to borrow a favorite term of educators—that comes from mentors sitting with, listening to, and challenging kids to take their ideas to the next level. As Pachuta says: “Personal interaction makes technology meaningful”—and it also makes the technology secondary.
It’s a lesson that bears repeating as Smart Boards have become ubiquitous in today’s classrooms and school districts, such as Los Angeles Unified, are spending millions on fleets of new iPads. Technology rollouts can become a waste of time and money if there isn’t adequate focus on the people who will be interacting with students while using the technology.
